About

A well established wine importer with origins dating back to the nineteen century, Ehrmanns is today one of the most dynamic suppliers to the trade.
The company’s recent history really starts in the 1980’s when, under the stewardship of Peter Dauthieu, Ehrmanns started to source wines for British supermarkets and off licence chains. The company quickly established a reputation for pioneering emerging wine producing countries.
Historically linked to Spain through the Sherry and Rioja trade, we have a sister company – Viniberia – based in Jerez which gives us a unique sourcing power for Iberian wines.
Consequently , we have been strongly involved with winemaking in South America and were among the first importers to source wines form Argentina and Chile in the early nineties. Other New World wines quickly followed, including wines from Australia, Mexico and California.
Over the years we have built up our portfolio in tune with market changes and currently work with over 30 carefully selected wineries from 15 different countries.
We supply all trade channels with a mix of Brands, Own Labels and Exclusive Labels. Our strengths are our knowledge of the British consumer paired with an unrivalled network of producers. We are able to react quickly with tailor made solutions for any given trading channel.
Ehrmanns has also a strong interest in ethical issues and sustainability. Social responsibility is very important to us and we have been at the forefront of Fairtrade wine since 2004. We now count no less than six Fairtrade certified producers across the Wines, Beers & Spirits category. We also work in partnership with several organic producers and are linked to two different charities ( Article 25 and Sense ).
Ehrmanns, a pioneer in alternative packaging is currently researching several options such as PET which would improve its carbon footprint in both the production and the transportation of wine.
