Ehrmanns invites buyers and press to visit their tasting tables at this year’s Argentina tasting on September 17th 2008, where they can expect to find new releases from old favourites Elementos and Casa Bonita; Fairtrade’s finest Soluna and newly launched premium brand, Andean Vineyards. The Ehrmanns team will be on hand to discuss latest developments and how these would benefit the retailer, including tailor-made packaging options available across a range of entry level wines.

Following on from its launch at this year’s London Wine Show, Argentine wine brand ‘Andean Vineyards’ will showcase a range of wines; specially selected from premier grape growing regions located at the foot of the Andes in the province of Mendoza and San Juan. This range includes the Reserve Andean Vineyards Malbec 2007 Winner of the Gold Malbec Trophy 2007

SECOND ANNUAL FAIRTRADE COMPETITION TASTING TO TAKE PLACE 16TH September 2008

The second annual Fairtrade competition tasting is to take place on Tuesday 16th September 2008.   This competition was set up by the UK Fairtrade Wine Committee with the aim of raising awareness of the high standard of Fairtrade wines available, as well as drawing further attention to the tangible benefits of Fairtrade. Over 85 wine entries are expected from producers in Argentina, Chile and South Africa, (double the number of last year) illustrating a significant increase of Fairtrade wines available and the buoyancy of the Fairtrade market in the UK.

The winners of the Fairtrade Wine Competition will be announced at the Fairtrade Wine Tasting on 12th November 2008 at Vinopolis.  The wines will be judged by Julie Arkell, Chair of the Circle of Wine-writers, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Olly Smith, Jamie Goode, Patricia Langton, Susan McCraith MW, Maria Elener Co-op, Jo Ahearne M&S and Michelle Smith Sainsbury’s.   The tasting will be chaired by Sophie Jump Chief Executive, International Wine Clubs Association.

August 4 2008. Blue Nun Heavenly, a new range of wines with both lower alcohol levels and calorific content, than most branded wines has just been launched in the UK and is now available BN heavenly smallfrom Ehrmanns.

Working with Blue Nun brand owner, Langguth, Lay explained that the Blue Nun Heavenly packaging has been designed to clearly communicate the 'lower' message. Both the front labels and the full colour cases emphasize the calorific content of a single 125ml glass of each wine and the alcohol content.

The Heavenly range includes a rosé and white wine. Both wines are
9% ABV and 77 calories per 125ml glass. A sparkling rose is expected
to be available by the late summer.
