Top Scores for Altamana Grande Reserve Malbec 2014

14 April 2016

The newly released 2014 vintage Altamana Grande Reserve Malbec has scored highly in respected US publications 'Wine Spectator' and 'Wines & Spirits'.

Kim Marcus of Wine Spectator awarded the wine 90 points in February 2016 and commented:

"A svelte red, with plenty of fresh acidity and minerality to the dark plum, cherry and dried blueberry flavours. The finish lengthens out nicely, with cedary and white pepper notes."

Joshua Greene of Wine & Spirits magazine scored the wine 91 points and noted:

"Typically, malbec has soft, sweet tannins, but there are some exceptions. The structure is firm, the tannins digging in like small claws, their intensity magnified by the acidity. They keep the red fruit juicy and vibrant, spice and herb notes adding detail. Pour it with braised short ribs."

Altamana was founded in 2012 by two pioneers of the Argentinian wine industry, Count Patrick d’Aulan, owner of Alta Vista, and famed Bordeaux winemaker Didier Debono. The two Frenchmen used their combined expertise and experience in developing the single vineyard concept in Argentina, to resurrect century-old Malbec vineyards planted in the Maule Valley, Chile.
