The Ehrmanns Portfolio Tasting 2019

Join us on the 17th September at the stunning Royal Society of Chemistry in central London to taste our full portfolio of wines under one roof.

Here is a selection of what you can expect on the day:

SPARKLING

We will have our full selection of Reserva and Grand Reserva Cavas from Juve y Camps, including the unique mono-varietal vintage Xarel.lo, and the Milésime Blanc de Blancs.

Sample fine Friulian Prosecco from Fantinel, including the independent exclusive Zuccolo DOC.

IBERIA

Meet our new partners Bodegas Palacio from Rioja Alavesa and Astobiza Estate, a small-scale winery is based in the Basque Country, who produce an eclectic range of premium Txakolís.

Meet representatives from Bodegas Valdesil from DO Valdeorras, Granbazán from DO Rias Baixas, Bodegas Federico Paternina and El Sacramento from Rioja and Bodegas Montecastro and Hacienda Monasterio from Ribera del Duero.

Discover intriguing Vinho Verde from the Adega Cooperativa Ponte de Lima, including the new dual-varietal Vinho Verde Loureiro-Alvarinho and Loureiro-Trajadura. We will also be showing ‘Adamado’, a unique sweet and fruity style of Vinho Verde.

Ehrmanns has been working with Portuguese producer Bacalhôa for over 30 years, and they will be presenting their diverse range of wines from estates in Alentejo and Setúbal. This will include a new red partner to our Catarina white, an expertly blended wine made from indigenous varietals.

In the Douro, Barão de Vilar produce the luxurious Feuerheerd's Anchor Reserva, which is aged for 12 months in special barrels used to mature vintage Port. We will be showing this new addition, along with a range of handcrafted blends of indigenous Portuguese varietals finished in Port barrels. Also from Barão de Vilar are the quirky Fat Baron Red Blend and Reserva.

From Ehrmanns, we will be showing new white and rosé extensions to the Portuguese Sardine Submarine range and new wines from Spain, including Rosa de Azafran rosé.

SOUTH AMERICA

Try the latest vintages from Santa Carolina, one of the oldest wineries in Chile, who deliver wines of exceptional quality and value from vineyards across the country. Make sure to try the Reserva de Familia Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, picked as one of the best wines in the world by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

From Argentina, we have Fairtrade wines from Finca Monteflores in Mendoza and Fair For life wines from Andean Vineyards.

We will also be showing an exciting new addition to the Beefsteak Club, the Reserve Tannat from the high altitude Cafayate Valley in Argentina’s Salta province.

SOUTH AFRICA

Stellar Organics are the leading producer of organic, fairly traded and no added sulphur wines in South Africa

AUSTRALIA

Award-wining wines from Angove, Australia’s leading producer of organic wines.

REST OF THE WORLD

Sample classic Austrian wines from Winzer Krems, including Zweigelt Red, Rosé and Grüner Veltliner, which was recently awarded a silver medal at the 2019 IWC. They will also be showing new wines that include the Kremstal Reserve Grüner Veltliner, which has been highly recommended by Decanter, receiving 90 points.

Deer Point Pinot Grigio is a new offering from the Thracian Valley in Bulgaria. It’s a fresh, fruit-forward expression of a classic varietal.

New additions from France include the Griset Gris de Gris, a refined and incredibly aromatic Sauvignon Gris rosé from Languedoc-Roussillon.

The Starry Night Merlot from the Pays d’Oc joins the Art of Wine series and features the iconic Van Gogh masterpiece.

FOCUS ON FORTIFIED

A special room will be dedicated to our range of fortified wines from the Douro Valley, Jerez and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Here there will be over 50 wines to try, from fine almacenista and single vintage Sherries, to rare Colheita Ports.

Taste the full range of Sherry styles available from Williams & Humbert of Jerez, including a rare single vintage Amontillado and Oloroso en Rama from 2003.

We will also be showing almacenista sherries chosen by Peter J Dauthieu, including the IWC 2019 gold medallist Cayetano del Pino Palo Cortado Solera

From our partner in the Douro, Barão de Vilar, we will be showing the elegant Feuerheerd’s Ports and new releases. These include the 30yo Tawny, 40yo of Tawny and 1970 Colheita. There will also be the chance to sample the rare Palmer 1935 Colheita.

ETHICAL TASTING TRAIL

Ehrmanns was one of the first to import fair trade wines into the UK, and we’re proud to represent wines which have a positive effect on vineyard workers and environment. At the tasting, there will be an ethical tasting trail, which will take you through our portfolio of organic and fairly traded wines from around the world, as well as the incredible stories behind them.
