Dig This! from Stellar Organics wins Best Green Launch of a Wine Brand at the Drinks Business Green Awards 2016

The Dig This! range from Stellar Organics has been named Best Green Launch of a Wine Brand at the Drinks Business Green Awards 2016. The Green Awards recognises and rewards those who are leading the way in sustainability and environmental performance.
The Dig This! organic wine brand was conceived by Stellar as a way to sustainably fund two social development initiatives in South Africa. Introduced to the Swedish and South African markets last year, it was launched by Ehrmanns in the UK in September 2016 at the ‘Intrepid South Africa’ tasting in London. The range consists of two wines - a youthful and fruit-forward Chenin-Sauvignon Blanc and an easy-drinking Shiraz-Merlot. The RRP for both wines is £7.99 and a percentage of every bottle sold goes directly back to Greenpop and The Stellar Foundation.
Stellar has been organic since 2001 and is certified for Fair Trade and social responsibility by Fair for Life/IMO. All social premiums go to the Stellar Foundation, an independent NGO that manages social development projects in the towns and communities in the winery's vicinity and on the farms that supply Stellar with grapes. Dig This! differs from this model in that the premium is split between The Stellar Foundation and Greenpop, whose core mission is reforestation and eco-education in Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa. Since 2010, Greenpop has planted 70,000 trees and initiated 350 educational projects that have benefitted 120,000 people.
Ehrmanns has been in partnership with Stellar since 2003 and prides itself on its expanding organic and ethical portfolio. Richard Dennis, Ehrmanns’ Senior Commercial Manager, commented: “We are proud to bring this range to the UK and to support Greenpop and its tree planting scheme, which aims to plant at least 27,000 trees in 3 years via local community projects in South Africa.”
