Producer Summary:Coteaux Les Cèdres, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Tempranillo and Arinarnoa is the world’s first Lebanese Fairtrade wine. In the year 2000, 252 farmers from communities of 11 villages across the Deir el Ahmar region, north of the fertile Bekaa Valley, created the Heliopolis Cooperative thanks to the technical support given by the French department of L’Oise. The goal of this initiative was for farmers to abandon the cultivation of illicit crops of poppy and cannabis, and replace that activity with the legal and lucrative farming of vines.
Short Tasting Note:Full bodied with aromas of ripe strawberry and red cherry. The palate is balanced by a light acidity with flavours of plum and nutmeg.
Long Tasting Note:A full bodied and nuanced wine, it offers gentle aromas of ripe strawberry and red cherry on the nose with a slight hint of rosemary. Luscious on the palate it is balanced by a light acidity which gives it a good lift and keeps it together. Some beautiful flavours of plums and nutmeg on the finish, leaves a long, mouth watering effect.
