Santa Carolina Reserva de Familia Carmenere in the Wine Merchant Top 100!

The Santa Carolina Reserva de Familia Carmenere from the Rapel Valley in Chile has been chosen as one of The Wine Merchant magazine's Top 100 wines of 2015.
The Wine Merchant Top 100 is the only competition to focus exclusiveley on wines available to the independent sector. The competition is judged by independents, for independents, with the individual character, quality and price of each wine forming the basis of the criteria.
Here is what the judges had to say:
The story of Carmenere's rediscovery while hiding in plain sight in Chile was remarkable enough. But if anything, the real story is just how much progress winemakers in the country have made with the variety in the couple of decades since. In the right hands - such as Santa Carolina's - this is now a red wine of genuinely individual character rather than simply an exotic curiosity. As the Top 100 judges said of the Reserva de Familia: "It has a classic Carmenere nose, with dark chocolate and cherry, while the palate is rounded with that soft cherry and mocha. Beautifully balanced."
Angove Family Winemaker's Whiz Bang Shiraz from the Barossa Valley 2013 was also highly commended in the competition.
