La Casa del Rey

La Casa del Rey has been described by Robert Parker as ‘one of the best wineries in Argentina’ and is responsible for producing super premium Malbecs such as the world famous Alta Vista. In an unusual twist for a winery of this status, they achieved fairtrade accreditation in 2011 following a workers initiative.

Owned by the d’Aulan family, the estate is located in Chacras de Coria, just south of Mendoza City and consists of 160 ha of the finest vineyards. The Monteflores association comprises of all workers from both the winery and the vineyards. Their community consists of 58 families which represent 240 people who benefit directly from the social program.

The winery is very successful in its own right with a global reputation for some of Argentina’s finest Malbecs. The wines are made by French born Matthieu Grassin and his team. Matthieu has worked at the winery since 2006 and has been key to its success, gaining awards and numerous Parker points.

The Finca Monteflores range represents tremendous value for money and demonstrates how brilliant Argentina is at creating beautifully layered wines, well balanced and rich in flavours and how its offering has great potential beyond Malbec.
