Williams & Humbert

The winery is located in the geographical triangle formed by the cities of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. This triangle has a unique microclimate owing to the influences of the Guadalquivir and Guadalete rivers, giving rise to the term “the Mesopotamian valley of western Andalusia”.

Founded in Jerez in 1877 by two enterprising Englishmen, Williams & Humbert has become a worldwide brand recognised for the quality of its portfolio. Today the company is fully owned by the Medina family who are local to Jerez, and in 1994, the company purchased the famous Spanish brandy house ‘Gran Duque D’Alba and has since developed a mini range of high end spirits. Described by Oz Clarke as a “top producer” (Guide: Best 250 wines, 2011), Williams & Humbert has produced a highly regarded international range of Sherries but also gained a stellar reputation for their aged wines, in particular the Solera Especial and the W&H Collection ranges. Williams & Humbert also has a unique library of single vintage Sherries which go back as far as 1921.
