Producer Summary:Santa Carolina, founded in 1875 and currently owned by the Larrain family, proudly champions Chilean Heritage with a focus on innovation. Through the journey of the valleys, Santa Carolina respects each varietals typicity and treasures the expression of fruit. The estates, owned and managed by Santa Carolina, are located in Maipo, Rapel, Leyda, Casablanca and Colchagua.
Short Tasting Note:Tropical notes of melon, custard, apple, papaya and peach combined with hints of hazelnuts.
Long Tasting Note:Grapes are sourced from vineyards in the Leyda Valley, where cool sea breezes from the Pacific Ocean blow through the region to counter balance its otherwise dry climate. The cool conditions and long ripening periods make it an ideal place for Chardonnay, yielding aromatic wines with balanced acidity. The wine is partially barrel fermented, and then spends six months on its lees prior to French oak barrel ageing. The wine exhibits tropical notes of melon, custard apple, papaya and peach combined with hints of hazelnuts. Ideal with pasta with creamy sauces and flavoursome fish, such as seabass or salmon.
Awards:2015 Wine Enthuasiast New World Winery of the Year, 2015 IWC Commended (2013 Vintage)
Press Recommendations:“This white is creamy and well-spiced, offering white fruit and spice flavors that lengthen out nicely. Ends with a plush, juicy finish.” - Kim Marcus (Wine Spectator, January 2021)
